Employment and support programmes

Research has shown that employment makes a significant contribution towards reducing
re-offending rates.

Probation officers work with offenders in the community to develop their work and education skills, and attend programmes that address the causes of their offending.

Employment opportunities give offenders the chance to develop work habits and gain skills and qualifications that will lead to sustainable employment and contribute to our goal of reducing re-offending by 25% by 2017.
