The purpose of the release procedures is to ensure that prisoners who are eligible for release are managed appropriately depending on the type of release, these include:
parole (with standard and or special conditions)
home detention (if leave granted)
Christmas early release
compassionate grounds (serious illness, or pregnancy), or
bail (prisoners on remand).
The following sections identify the criteria for each type of release. These procedures contain robust review procedures to ensure that:
the prisoner is able to be released
they have been advised of all their rights
they have received all their entitlements, and
all people and organisations required to be notified of the upcoming release have been advised.
