Chief Executive's guidelines on the use of coercive powers under the Public Safety (Public Protection Orders) Act
The Public Safety (Public Protection Orders) Act 2014 empowers a High Court to issue a public protection order (PPO) that would allow for the detention of very high risk individuals at a secure residence within prison precincts.
PPOs are civil detention orders for individuals who have servced a finite prison sentence, but still pose a very high risk of imminent and serious sexual or violent offending.
