4.4 Major offence of segregated inmates
Nineteen percent (993) of all sentenced inmates were segregated, with the vast majority of these segregated at their own request. Segregation was most common amongst sex offenders. For details on use of segregation by institution (for sentenced and remand inmates) see section 2.3 Segregation. As is apparent in the following table, very few female inmates seek, or require, segregation.
