5.2 Age at first sentence
Almost half of all inmates received a Corrections-administered sentence for the first time between the ages of 17 and 19. For men, 60 percent had their first sentence by the age of nineteen.
Eighty-three percent of male inmates and 74 percent of female inmates had their first sentence by the age of 29 years.
